Additional Info

This journal was lovingly handcrafted from start to finish by Ruth Bleakley, a Florida-based book artist and paper fanatic with over 15 years of bookbinding experience.

The care and attention to detail in this one-of-a-kind journal is unparalleled, from the hand-set metal eyelets to the perfectly uniform Coptic hand-stitched binding that allows the book to lay completely flat when opened.

Eye-catching shimmering gold ink floats across the marbled covers. Inside the book you’ll find 100% recycled 32lb high quality smooth paper suitable for writing, sketching, dry media or fountain pen, with no show-through. The book stands upright beautifully for display in your art collection. A special gift for new beginnings.

Note from Ruth: Looking for a vegan journal? This journal is leather-free and contains no animal products, including beeswax. In my experience repairing books in the library, I found that it was usually the leather bindings that would crumble and break as they are susceptible to a powdering fungus called “red rot”. Books bound in paper or book cloth looked great, even hundreds of years after they were made! My goal is to make books that are beautiful and that will stand the test of time.
